Our skipper Stephane is a level 2 dive instructor (BEES 2) with ten years diving experience in the Pacific. He has been diving in New Caledonia for 7 years and as such he has accumulated a wealth of local knowledge which you shall fully enjoy. The purpose of the dive cruises is to have you dive twice a day (weather permitting) in remote locations of the southern lagoon and the Loyalty Islands (depending on number of days and request). This is where the catamaran is handy: it allows access to spots where none of the Caledonian dive clubs will go to. You will feel quite privileged once you dive on these hidden spots. Most dives will be 10 to 30m deep, although on some occasions it is well worth going down to 40m. Some channel dives can depart from the catamaran itself, but for most dives you will have to jump on the inflatable dive boat. You should expect to see fantastic coral, big fish, dolphins, sharks, turtles, barracuda, and you may be lucky enough to see a dugong or a nautilus. Diving gear on board: - 4.4m dive dingy - 2 compressors (6m 3/hour) - 10 tanks (10 and 15 litres) - 10 jackets and regulators Getting There: To get there, just jump on a 2.5 hours flight from Sydney to New Caledonia. From landing to take off we take everything in charge, just sit back and relax. Transfers from the airport to the capital Noumea are covered in-house to guarantee the quality of our service. After a 40 minutes drive you will arrive in Noumea, a cosmopolitan little town, a unique blend of French and Melanesian cultures, but most importantly it is the gateway to the world’s biggest lagoon: 1600 km of unspoilt, virgin barrier reef. Our 46 feet catamaran, Kuare, which sits in the main marina, will be all set to take you to the southern lagoon where some of the Pacific’s most astounding scenery awaits you. On board, Stephane, our skipper and a hostess will help you settle in your cabins, and will be taking care of you during your cruise. Next thing you are on your way to one of the best water sports adventure of your life with just your mates or your family !!! Other Activities: -relaxing on uninhabited coral islands with white sand beaches. -snorkelling in the lagoon or on the barrier reef. -fishing. Entertainment: We have a Macintosh in the common area for multimedia purposes, so you can watch DVDs, videos and pictures of your trip, and listen to music. The catamaran is equipped with a sound system which allows you to switch on the music in either cabin, on the deck or in the common area. What you should bring: Your own snorkelling gear for comfort (we do have some just in case you forget it), sunscreen, sunglasses, thongs or booties to walk on coral islands, wind jackets, any music or DVD you wish. New Caledonian climate: The climate in New Caledonia is tropical. The weather is influenced by the regionally predominant southeast trade winds especially in summer, from November to March, which is also the cyclone season. Safety and Emergency information: -The boat caries full category 1 safety equipment and oxygen tanks. The skipper is in constant radio contact with the Noumean maritime authorities for weather reports and safety check ups. -Helicopter emergency services are available anywhere in New Caledonia within less than an hour. -A hyper baric chamber is available in Noumea. -The New Caledonian medical system meets both French and European standards. |
